Seven people died on Saturday morning when a mini pickup van transporting chickens collided with a parked truck at Chandikhol Neulpur road on the National Highway -16 in the Jajpur region of Odisha.
On Saturday, February 25, 2023, a mini pickup truck carrying chickens collided head-on with a vehicle at Chandikhol Nelupur on the national highway road in the Jajpur district of Odisha, resulting in a shocking accident that claimed the lives of seven people.
The accident resulted in the immediate deaths of six people and the death of one wounded person who was being treated at the hospital.
Situation Specifics
The pickup van reportedly lost control and struck a stationary truck parked close to the Central Bank of India’s Neulpur office. The vehicle had encountered some mechanical difficulties, so it was parked by the side of the road. Rescue workers from the Dharmashala police and the Orissa fire service arrived at the accident scene.
The collision’s severity necessitated the use of gas cutters by the cops to remove the bodies from the wrecked car.
Those Who Died
One of those killed in the collision was the pickup van’s driver. The pickup van’s driver rear-ended the vehicle parked on the side of the road. Six bodies were pulled from the wrecked car by the Chandikhol fire crew, while one of the seriously hurt was taken to the SCB medical college and hospital nearby but passed away en route.
Vinit Agrawal, the superintendent of police in Jajpur, claims that the deceased’s family members have been informed and are heading to Jajpur. Additionally, the SP added that the police are still investigating the precise reason for the accident.
Meanwhile, the police sent the deceased’s corpses to the Barchana Community Health centre in Jajpur for postmortem examination.
Potential Root Causes of the road accident
A group of angry villagers blocked the route after the mishap. They were protesting because authorities had not removed the stationary truck since Friday. So the casualty was caused by the vehicle parked on the side of the road, they claimed. Later, after the cops got involved, they removed the blockade.
Locals made initial rescue efforts, according to the authorities. Still, the accident occurred when the minivan, which was travelling at high speed, could not make the sharp turn. In addition, the driver may have been rendered blind by the quick turn because of the fog during the early morning hour when the mishap occurred.
However, locals claimed that this road occasionally sees sharp turns, and drivers lose control of their vehicles, resulting in deadly collisions. As a result, they requested the deployment of traffic police.
