Ananthagiri Hills- 

Located 100 kms away from Hyderabad , in Vikarabad district is the lush green hills of Ananthagiri. Located in the eastern ghats in Telangana, Ananthagiri hills is the origin spot of the Musi river which flows through out Hyderabad. It is the best option for travellers hoping for getting close to the nature. The hills are famous for Shri Anantha Padmanabha Sawmy temple of Lord Vishnu.

It is best known for its easy trekking expeditions to the Godamguda viewpoint. The hills is full of green lush trees, small fresh water streams and jungle trails for adventure. The temperature in Ananthagiri hills remains moderately cool throughout the year. The hills have relatively simple trails for new travellers. 

Mrugavani National Park – 

Located 25 kilometers away from Hyderabad is Mrugavani National park which homes several wild animals like deers, boars, foxes, peacocks, and several rarely found plants and trees. The national park is open for all the days of the week except for Mondays.

The entry fees for the adults is Rs 5/-. The park is open from 9am to 5pm for the visitors. It is a good place for a family picnic and a long drive. The park is on the route to Chilkur Balaji temple and can be reached through personal vehicles as-well-as from state run RTC buses. 

Bhuvanagiri fort- 

Bhuvangiri fort also called as Bhongir fort is said to be constructed in 10th century AD. The fort was built by the Chalukya ruler, Thribhuvanamalla Vikramaditya. The fort is 500 ft above sea level and spreads over 50 acres on top of a huge single rock. Itis a good spot for visitors to join the adventure and also experience the heritage of the place. The hill has stairs up to the fort, however, the view from the top is mesmerizing to the trekker’s eye. This would be a good start for new and Inexperienced trekkers. 

Nagarjun Sagar Dam – 

Located 150 kilometers away from Hyderabad is Nagarjun Sagar dam in Nalagonda district of Telangana. The dam is a beautiful combination of nature and technology. The dam is constructed on river Krishna and is the main source of drinking water, irrigation to fields and is alos the source of hydro-electricity.

While visiting the dam, Nagarjun Konda is a place one must never miss. You can travel to the Nagarjun Konda through the boats in the Nagarjun Sagar dam reservoir. One way travel to the island usually takes over 30mins and the tourists can explore the island which has Buddhist era artefacts and a musuem.

Basara – 

Famous for Saraswati temple, Basara is located on the banks of river Godavari. The small town is located ove 200km away from Hyderabad. The place is best known among Hindu devotees for getting their young children “Akhsharaabhyas”, a small ritual done before a child’s formal education is begun. The serene town of Basara gives a pleasant experience to its visitors. Tourists can enjoy the beauty of Godavari on shikara and the traditional boats.

Ramoji Film City – 

Located in the Rangareddy district of Telangana, Ramoji film city is over 30 kilometers away from Hyderabad. Covering an area of over 2000 acres, Ramoji film city is India’s largest thematic park which welcomes over 1.5 million people every single day. The ticket prices for the day tour are – Rs 1150/- for adults and Rs 950/- for children.

The theme park has studio tours, eco-parks, live shows, magic park, Eureka, which displays artifacts from the Mughal and Mauryan era. The park has several rides, sensory enabling shows for its visitors. The park also homes several studios where shootings for several movies take place throughout the year.

Blockbuster movies – Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion were shot here. Ramoji Film City would be a great place for a day long picnic for families, simultaneously it also has hotel sooms within its premises to people who wish to stay for a day or two. 

Things that every traveller should carry with them for these one day weekend get away trips is enough food and water for the travel, battery back up for your smartphones and cameras, enough fuel in your vehicles if travelling with your personal vehicles.
