About the Course
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) is a professional degree majoring in social work that is provided at the undergraduate (UG) level. A BSW degree course typically lasts three years and is broken down into six semesters.
In some situations, candidates are required to complete the course within a maximum of six years.
Candidates can study BSW as a full-time degree or as a correspondence/distance education course. The BSW programme is divided into three parts: a foundation course, an optional course, and fieldwork.
Colleges in India provide a BSW degree programme in both English and Hindi. Introduction to Social Work, Social Problems in India, Social Work Research & Statistics, Social Work Administration, and other topics are popular topics that applicants must study in a BSW programme.
Eligibility
To pursue a BSW programme, candidates must meet certain eligibility requirements. The following educational qualities are required to undertake a BSW course in India:
- Candidates must have a Class 12 diploma from a recognised board.
- Most colleges accept a minimum qualifying score of 50% aggregate. Some colleges, however, may not have a minimum score requirement.
- Before applying for admission, candidates should review the eligibility criteria established by each college.
- There is no priority for the stream studied in Class 12 for UG admission. On the other hand, candidates with a background in social work, sociology, psychology, or a related discipline are favoured if they want to pursue a BSW course.
Skills Required
Aspirants interested in pursuing a BSW course should be aware of the social problems in the area in which they operate, as well as have good communication skills.
