Recently, the Enforcement Directorate ( ED) conducted raids at Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav’s residence in Delhi in connection with the land-for-jobs scam case. Earlier, his parents Lalu Prashad Yadav and Rabri Devi were also questioned by CBI regarding the same
For the last few days, the ED is conducting raids at the residence of the Rashtriya Janta Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav’s Delhi home in an accusation of the land-for-jobs scam case. The ED started raids at 8:30 am on 10th March at the residence of the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar which is located in the Friends Colony of the national capital.
The ED also raided the residence of Lalu Prashad Yadav’s son-in-law and Samajwadi Party leader Jitendra Yadav in Ghaziabad of Uttar Pradesh in connection with the same case. The raids took place immediately after former CM of Bihar Rabri Devi and Lalu Prashad Yadav were questioned by the CBI in connection with the land-for-jobs scam. The case is about giving employment to people in the railway in return for land gifted to the Yadav family and its close people for free or cheap price.
The CBI filed a case against Lalu Prashad Yadav and Rabri Devi and 14 other close aids to them under charges of criminal conspiracy and provisions of the prevention of corruption act, all of them have been asked to be present in the court on 15th of March.
Last week, the opposition leaders wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the misuse of central agencies by the Union government to settle political battles. Tejaswai Yadav was among the leaders who signed this particular letter.
Tejashwi Yadav to not appear before CBI
The Deputy Chief Minister was summoned by CBI in connection with the land-for-jobs case, but as per reports Tejashwai will not appear before CBI as his wife was hospitalized after ED’s questioning and moreover she is pregnant.
The CBI has asked Tejaswai to appear before them after his parents Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi were questioned by the agency regarding the land-for-job scam case. This is not the 1st time the CBI has asked the Bihar Deputy CM to appear before them, earlier he was summoned by the agency on February 4 but he remained absent.
Tejashwi Yadav considers this CBI action a result of his family’s fight against the Bharatiya Janta party’s ( BJP) anti-people policies. Speaking to reporters outside the Bihar Assembly, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “ It is an open secret that probe agencies are acting against political opponents of the BJP and helping those who agree to align with that party”.
