The 95th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 12, 2023. The documentaries “All That Breathes,” “The Elephant Whisperers,” and the song “Naatu-Naatu” are among the three Indian entries nominated this season.
The 95th Academy Awards nominees were unveiled on Tuesday by actors Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams. And happily, this year, India was nominated for three Academy Awards. In the categories of Best Documentary Feature Film and Best Documentary Short Film, respectively, the Indian movies All That Breathes and The Elephant Whisperers have received nominations. A nomination for “Naatu Naatu” from SS Rajamouli’s RRR has been made in the Best Original Song category. RRR, however, did not receive any further Oscar nominations.
Jimmy Kimmel, a late-night host and comedian, will host the Oscars once more after doing so in 2017 and 2018. Also, David Niven, Conrad Nagel, Jerry Lewis, and Steve Martin will serve as hosts of the Oscars. Those who have hosted more than three times include Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Bob Hope, Whoopi Goldberg, and Jack Lemmon.
The 2023 Oscars will be held at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday, March 12. SS Rajamouli’s RRR song Naatu Naatu will be performed live by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava during the prestigious awards ceremony.
The cheerful dance tune is in the running for an award in the Original Song category, up against tracks like “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and “This Is A Life” from Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Some of the most eagerly awaited films of 2022 are among the 95th Academy Awards’ Best Picture nominees, including All Quiet on the Western Front, Avatar: The Way of Water, The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis, Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Fabelmans, Top Gun: Maverick, and The Banshees of Inisherin.
The ambition may be seen in “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” which has received eleven nominations, more than any other movie, and which stands for the conjoined aspirations of oddity and diversity. Its surfaces are more eccentric than practically anything Hollywood produced last year, yet the underlying emotional realm is not at all odd.
The casting is the director’s most outstanding accomplishment. Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis, who overcame the ageism that most actresses experience, and Stephanie Hsu, a near-newcomer, are all excellent actors whose abilities have gone underused due to the lack of significant Asian acting parts. This casting alone is deserving of an Oscar.
On the other hand, “Nope”, a wonderful movie from Hollywood’s 2022 release slate, failed to win any awards despite being both a commercial triumph and an extravagant work of imagination. Since winning Best Original Screenplay for “Get Out.” Jordan Peele has become the Rodney Dangerfield of Hollywood, receiving absolutely no respect from anyone.
It is shocking and unsettling how neglected he is, as well as his films. The fact that no Black filmmaker’s film received a nomination for Best Picture for directing, screenwriting, or, for that matter, Best International Feature, despite the fact that two excellent Black actors—Angela Bassett and Brian Tyree Henry—were nominated this year, despite the fact that there were many excellent ones.
Instead, the Academy has backed the stodge of “All Quiet on the Western Front” German filmmaker Edward Berger has disproved the notion that movies are not made in the same manner as they once were. “Aftersun” by Charlotte Wells was also nominated for oscars.The actor Paul Mescal has won the Bafta Awards 2023.
