Manish Sisodia presented before the court after CBI trial ends

Manish Sisodia presented before Rouse Avenue Court today after his arrest. He was in CBI custody from last 7 days.           

Court sends Sisodia into judicial custody till 20 March. CBI arrested him on 26 February for the Delhi Liquor Policy Case. On 19th August CBI raided Manish sisodia’s residence and 21 other places in Delhi- NCR. He will be now shifted to Tihar jail. CM Kejriwal , on Sisodia’s arrest said “ He is a Saint and PM Modi will have to face the malediction on his arrest’’. Following his arrest, 9 opposition parties wrote letter to PM and accused him of misusing the government agencies.

 In Delhi Liquor Policy Case he is accused of giving undue benefits to liquor licence holders in lieu of commissions and using that money for Punjab assembly elections held in February 2022. On July 30, Sisodia announced a set of change of liquor rules under Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. This allowed only Government owned liquor venders to operate in Delhi. He also allowed them to give as much discount they want. Some other services were also provided like Home deliveries. This new liquor policy divided Delhi into 32 zones. Each zone having 27 liquor vends. It also ensured the exit of government from liquor business. This policy was made to stop black mafia and liquor mafia. 

Political Views 

Sisodia has even resigned from his Deputy CM position.  Aam Aadmi Party has been facing slashes from other parties for this issue. Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that he is innocent and these are the sign of dirty politics. Senior Congress leader Abhishek Sansvi tweeted that “ God be with u Manish Ji. It is a distress to see such shameful use of power. Samajvadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav tweeted that BJP has accepted its defeat before the elections , that is why it is implicating such cases on opposition party leaders.

This arrest before the 2024 elections is a set back for the AAP. BJP is claiming win even bigger than the previous one. Congress is claiming to win 2024 elections by initiatives like Bharat Jodo Yatra and Congress President elections.
