A Yeti Airlines passenger plane carrying 68 passengers and 4 crew members crashed while landing at Pokhara on January 15, 2023.
Moments before the horrific crash of the Yeti Airlines Flight 691, everything was at peace but suddenly the plane crashed and took away at least 68 lives. The plane was traveling from the Capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, to Pokhara, and crashed while landing at the Pokhara International Airport. The aircraft carried around 68 people, of which at least 15 were from other countries like India, Russia, South Korea, and France.
According to a video shot by an Indian Passenger, it can be seen that the aircraft was about to land when a sudden explosion is heard turning into screams by people onboard. It can also be seen that the plane had caught fire. Although, the authenticity of the video has not been confirmed yet.
The rescue team reached on-site as they came to know about the tragedy for conducting a rescue operation but unfortunately couldn’t save anyone. The cause of the plane crash is still not known. The authorities have tasked a special commission to conduct investigations and provide results within 45 days.
Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ expressed his grief by saying that “I am deeply saddened by the tragic accident of Yeti Airlines ANC ATR 72, which was flying from Kathmandu to Pokhara with passengers. I sincerely appeal to the security personnel, all agencies of the Nepal government, and the general public to start an effective rescue,”.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other world leaders also expressed their grief for the affected families.
