Amritpal Singh has been designated a runaway; Punjab and Himachal police are on high alert.

Amritpal Singh, the head of the Khalistani movement, has been sought after by the Punjab Police, who on Saturday began a statewide crackdown on Waris Punjab De members. Singh is evading capture as a result of the state police’s extensive search for him. To prevent demonstrations and violence, section 144 has been implemented in several districts and Amritpal’s ancestral hamlet of Jallu Kheda has been transformed into a fortress. Punjab and the surrounding region are on high watch.

Security has been increased throughout the state as efforts to find the missing “Waris Punjab De” leader Amritpal Singh, a supporter of the Khalistani movement.

Tarsem Singh, Amritpal Singh’s father, claimed on Saturday that officers searched his home for three to four hours but found nothing “illegal” and that they were unaware of the radical leader’s whereabouts.

The Punjab Police urged people to uphold peace and harmony and not disseminate false information, panic, or hate speech on Saturday as internet services were still suspended throughout the state. Punjab Police tweeted that it was trying to uphold law and order.
