Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has inaugurated the new 118 km expressway between Bangalore and Mysore to decrease the travelling time of visitors. It was completed at a cost of Rs. 8,400 crores, and now the estimated travelling time will be 75 minutes.
While inaugurating the project, PM Modi held a roadshow and addressed a rally in the Mandya district of Karnataka. He said: “Bengaluru and Mysore are important cities of Karnataka. Both have their own emphasis; one is known for its technology whereas the other is known for its tradition. It was important to connect these two cities’ infrastructure.”
He went on to say that in the last few days, more and more people have been talking about the expressway, with its pictures also going viral on social media. The government is looking forward towards development and growth in these two cities.
He added, “In the last nine years, houses were made for over 3 crore poor people under which lakhs of houses were made in Karnataka. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, tap water has also been provided to 40 lakh families in Karnataka.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, laid an attack on the opposition party of Congress stating that “Before 2014, the Congress government at the Centre left no stone unturned to ruin poor people. Congress looted the money which was for poor people. Congress is busy digging graves for the PM, but Modi is busy in enhancing the lives of the poor. People’s trust is my shield. I am busy empowering Karnataka.”
89 underpasses and overpasses, four rail overbridges, nine major bridges, 40 minor bridges, and a stretch of NH-275 are all being built as part of the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway. It is to be noted that the 118 km long road, which has six major carriageway lanes and two service lanes on either side, was built as part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for Mysore-Kushalnagar 4-lane highway. Spread over 92 Km, the project will be developed at a cost of around Rs 4130 crores. The project will play a key role in boosting the connectivity of Kushalnagar with Bengaluru and will help halve the travel time from about 5 to only 2.5 hours.
The 69 bus bays, 49 underpasses, 13 overpasses, and fencing on either side of the access-controlled, 6-lane road will allow for free and continuous trips on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway. The highway would also include a greenfield bypass. Ramanagaram and Channapatana will both have 22 km of this bypass; Mandya, Srirangapatana, and Maddur will each have 8 km, 10 km, and 4 km of this bypass, correspondingly. A 7 km bypass will also be built in Bidadi, enabling commuters to skip the cities on the way.
