The court canceled the arrest warrant issued against Pakistan’s former prime minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan in the much-discussed Toshakhana case. Judge Zafar Iqbal of Additional District and Sessions Judge of Islamabad gave the order on Saturday (March 18).
According to Dawn news, due to today’s commotion and chaos, the hearing of this case has been postponed till March 30. Apart from this, the judge ordered Imran Khan to appear in court in the next hearing of the case.
PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi said, “All legal procedures have been completed. Imran Khan has left the court.
Earlier, Imran Khan left for Islamabad from his home in Lahore at around 8 am to attend the Toshakhana case hearing filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan. Imran’s life is at risk – law and order forces ensure tight security in the area against PTI’s objection. However, PTI leaders and activists clashed with the police in the court premises. Police even fired tear gas shells at PTI activists.
A Dawn representative at the scene said officers in the courtroom were in trouble due to police tear gas and pelting of stones at the windows.
Apart from this, on the same day, Punjab Police raided Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore. When the PTI activists tried to resist, the police lathi-charged them. Apart from this, it is also known that some activists have been taken into police custody.
