“A quarter of the $300 million allocated to start-ups through Google’s India Digitization Fund (IDF) will be invested in women-run start-ups”.
At the event 2022 “Google for India”, Google talked about what are the new features to be introduced. Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai came to India to attend the event. A conversation was held between Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and Sundar Pichai.
Sundar Pichai said, “Google is focusing on Indian start-ups. A quarter of the $300 million allocated to start-ups by Google’s India Digitization Fund (IDF) will be invested in women-run start-ups. Technology works in a big way and touches the lives of people all over the world.
It calls for designing responsible and balanced regulation. India needs to ensure balance and safeguards for its people. India will also be a major export economy. It will benefit from an open and connected Internet. Getting that balance is more important. India’s start-up ecosystem is thriving.
And it is being noticed globally. The country is going through an era of digital transformation. An open and connected Internet is important for India. India has a leadership role. It is important to ensure that you balance safeguards for people and create innovative structures. Through this, companies can innovate with determination in the framework of the law,” he said.
Responding to this, Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, “The government is drafting various bills to create a strong regulatory framework around the internet economy to protect user data. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given us a clear target of creating a comprehensive legal and regulatory framework. First is the Telecom Bill for telecom companies, second is the Digital Security Bill to protect citizens’ privacy, and next we have the ‘Digital India’ Bill. The government aims to implement these bills from next year,” he said.
