It is rightly said, “Educate a man, you educate one person, educate a woman, you educate a complete family”. The deep-rooted gender inequality and the patriarchal society are responsible for making women the victims and even in the present times, it continues to see women and girls as a liability than an asset. But the truth is that investing in a girl’s education is investing in a nation’s assets.

With the Right to Education, Indian democracy is on its way to providing children with their basic right to schooling and therefore discouraging gender discrimination. Various schemes and policies have helped in bringing girls to schools. Educating a girl does not only help in the improvement of the human race but even helps in the growth of the economy as women are included in the workforce and they contribute efficiently like men.

Malala Yousufzai, a Pakistani school girl who was shot by the Taliban, in an address to the United Nations said, “One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world.” It is true that to foster the worldwide vision of education in a multicultural world, educating a girl is as important as educating a boy.
