PM Narendra Modi addresses on the occasion of National Handloom Day on 7 August

PM Narendra Modi addressed the National Hand loom

Day on 7 August at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

Celebrating this day, the PM launched the E-Portal ‘Bharat Vastra Evam Shilpa Kosha Repository of Textile and a Craft’ that was developed by the National Institute of Fashion Technology.

He also visited the prepossessing exhibition showcased on the occasion and interacted with weavers

On the occasion of National Handloom Day, the PM acknowledged the growth of the Indian Textile Industry. He lamented how no concrete efforts were made to strengthen the industry after independence but In 2014, the government strived to change the circumstances by introducing Mann ki Baat and encouraging them to buy khadi Products which resulted in a 3 fold rise in production in the last 9 years

Speaking about the Government E-Marketplace, PM said that even the smallest to smallest artisan, craftsman or weaver can sell their goods directly to the government.
He proudly narrated that about 1.75 lakh organizations are related to the handloom and handicrafts are linked to GeM and urged to see the continued success

PM Narendra Modi expressed his satisfaction with how the growth of Industry and its contribution to the Economy
