“This IPL Could Be The Close Of MS Dhoni’s IPL Career,” – Aussie Legend Matthew Hayden

Former Australian Cricketer Matthew Hayden believes that the 2023 IPL season will be the close of MS Dhoni’s career in the competition as the Chennai Super Kings skipper gets ready to return to Chepauk. Hayden believes this could be the last time Mahendra Singh Dhoni will step into the field as a player.

The schedule of the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was released and the huge news is that IPL returns as a home and away format. Chennai Super Kings will have their first home game on 3rd April when they face Lucknow SuperGiants at Chepauk.

Speaking on Star Sports following the announcement of the TATA IPL 2023 schedule, Former CSK Opener Hayden talked about the reception Chennai Super Kings captain Dhoni will receive when he walks onto the field at Chepauk after almost three years.

Former Indian Cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar feels Ms. Dhoni’s experience will come in handy for CSK in IPL 2023, Manjrekar believes that Ms. Dhoni can be played purely based on his leadership skills.

“Look, having watched T20 cricket over the years, especially with the IPL and the kind of pressures that teams feel, I believe that you can have one player in your team on pure leadership. MS Dhoni doesn’t play regularly, so his impact with the bat is not going to be as much as it was in his prime, but somebody like MS Dhoni, with his leadership experience, can have him in the team, to make a difference with his leadership,”
