Prime Minister Narendra Modi Inaugurated the new Parliament House of India as a part of the New Central Vista Project on Sunday. He dedicated the newly built Parliament House to the people of India. He also Installed sacred “Sengol” near the speaker’s chair of the Lok Sabha
PM Modi said that the new Parliament House of India gives new energy and progress to the world’s largest democracy. He said the new Parliament building is a shrine of democracy and a symbol of the ambitions of India’s 140 crore citizens. He said that the formation of a self-reliant India will be witnessed by this new Parliament.
All About New Parliament
The new parliament is built in Triangular Shape. Architect Bimal Patel Said the shape also Indicates the sacred geometry of different religions. The new building has three storeys built in 64,500 sqm.
What is Sengol ?
Sengol, which was derived from Tamil word “Semmai” this means “Righteousness”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Installed Sengol nearby the speaker’s chair of Lok Sabha. It is historic sceptre from Tamil Nadu that was given to India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Before it was then placed in an Allahabad Museum.
In the Chola dynasty the Sengol was used to handover the authority from one Monarch to another Monarch.
Lok Sabha
The Lok Sabha chamber has 888 seats, dedicated with touch screen computers on MP’s Desk. The new Lok Sabha chamber has a Peacock theme drawn from National Bird’s feathers designed on the walls & Ceiling and finishing touch of teal carpet.
Rajya Sabha
The Rajya Sabha has 384 seats, with touchscreen computers on desks. The new Rajya Sabha Chamber has dedicated with Lotus as its theme with red carpets.
Facilities
The new building has a dining hall, lounge, and library. It has also a central courtyard with a Banyan Tree.
