Yesterday Narendra Modi attacked Gandhi family in his speech in Rajya Sabha. He said “if they are so proud of Nehru why does no one in his family keep Nehru as their surname” Is it true? Is Gandhi family ashamed of keeping Nehru surname? No, they are not. They are not even the successor of Nehru.
First of all, this is a baseless question and a baseless attack on Gandhi family. I hope our prime minister knows Nehru didn’t have any son, he just have one daughter, Indira Gandhi. Then how come Gandhi family is his successor? And where does the question of Nehru surname come from?
Now, many people think Gandhi family is somehow related to Mahatma Gandhi, which is also not true. So where does this Gandhi surname comes from?
On 12 September 1912, Feroze Jahangir Ghandy was born in Mumbai to a Parsi family. In the early 1920s, his father, Jehangir Faredoon Ghandy died. After his father’s death, he and his mother moved to Allahabad. In 1930s, he met Kamla Nehru, Indira Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi. And after being inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, he joined the freedom movement and changed his surname to Gandhi from Ghandy. Later in 1942, he got married to Indira Nehru, and Indira Nehru become Indira Gandhi. Who then have 2 children, Sanjiv Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. And Rahul Gandhi is the son of Rajiv Gandhi and grandson of Feroze Gandhi.
So our prime minister should do some research before his speech and should not give incorrect information. He is the prime minister of the world’s biggest democracy, the public expects more responsibility from him. He and the people who are supporting his statement should know that Nehru doesn’t have any successor, and the Gandhi surname comes from Feroze Gandhi.
In his two consecutive speeches, one in Lok sabha and one In Rajya Sabha, both speech’s length were more than 1 hour. And he didn’t take Adani’s name even once and didn’t answer a single question asked by the opposition party. Instead of attacking the opposition he should try and answer the question raised on him and his party.
