A fan of Madhuri Dixit has filed a lawsuit against Netflix for offensive comments made in ‘Big Bang Theory’A supporter of Madhuri Dixit has sent a legal notice to Netflix requesting that the video-streaming service take down one of the episodes of the hit program Big Bang Theory in which one of the characters made disparaging remarks about the actor.
In a press release, author and political commentator Mithun Vijay Kumar claimed that the character Rajesh Koothrapalli aka Raj, played by Kunal Nayyar, made insulting and defamatory statements against, in the second episode of the renowned sitcom’s second season, Madhuri Dixit appears.
He demanded that Netflix take down the show right once and threatened legal action if it didn’t because it promoted discrimination against women. According to the legal notice, such material may have a detrimental effect on society, particularly if it serves to reinforce harmful stereotypes of women. He also asserts that the content condones sexism and misogyny, both of which are unacceptable in any form
In the Big Bang Theory episode, Raj is seen singing along to the Kaho Na Pyaar Hai theme song
with Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel in the Big Bang Theory episode. Sheldon Cooper
referred to Ameesha Patel as Aishwarya Rai when he was speaking of another character.
An argument ensues in which Raj, an ardent supporter of the beauty queen, calls Aishwarya Rai
a “Goddess” and compares Madhuri Dixit to a “leprous pr**titute” in comparison to
Aishwarya Rai. Sheldon calls the actress a “poor man’s Madhuri Dixit.”
“It is crucial to hold corporations like Netflix responsible for their conduct and to ensure that
they are attentive to the cultural values and sensitivities of the communities they serve,”
Mithun Vijay Kumar stated in reference to the legal notice.
Also stated, “I firmly think that companies offering streaming services have an obligation to
carefully select the content they make available on their platforms. They have a
responsibility to make sure that the content they publish is free of harmful, libelous, or
