Sargam brings home the crown after 21 years 

Sargam Koushal who hails from Jammu and Kashmir represented India in this year’s Mrs world pageant in Las Vegas. She overtook 63 other competitors from different nations to bag the title and brought back the crown after a long gap of 21 years on the 18th of December.


Mrs. Polynesia and Mrs. Canada were named the first and second runners ups respectively. Actor-model Aditi Govitrikar, who became the first Indian to become Mrs. World in 2001, also sent her congratulations. Tagging Koushal, Govitrikar wrote: “Heartiest congratulations @sargam3 @mrsindiainc so happy to have been part of the journey. it was time the crown came back after 21 years.”


Sharing her immense happiness over winning the title Sargam wrote “The long wait is over, it’s after 21 years we have the CROWN back!” on her Instagram handle and shared a video expressing her joy, on winning the championship.

About Mrs. Sargam Koushal 

Koushal, age 31, is the daughter of Meena Koushal and G S Koushal (a former chief manager of the Bank of India), and she is from Jammu’s Bahu Fort neighborhood.2022 Mrs. World Sargam Koushal, who now resides in Mumbai, is originally from Jammu & Kashmir.

According to reports, she got married in 2018; her spouse is a member of the Indian Navy. The newly crowned Mrs. World also has teaching experience and a master’s degree in English literature. She earned the Mrs. India World 2022–23 title in June of this year beating 51 other contestants from different states.

Koushal wore a gorgeous pink gown, designed by Bhawna Rao, for the final round and was mentored for the runway by pageant expert and model Alesia Raut.

About the pageant 

Mrs. World was founded in 1984 as the first beauty pageant for married women. The concept of the pageant itself has its roots in Mrs. America. The pageant was Mrs. Woman of the World from 1984 to 1987 before being renamed Mrs. World in 1988. Mrs. World has grown into the world’s largest martial pageant, with contestants from over 80 countries competing for the prestigious crown.
