RRR Wins ‘Best International Film’ at the HCA Awards: Secures Five Trophies

SS Rajamouli’s Telugu smash hit RRR picked as the Best International Film at the Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) awards, 2023. The movie also bagged awards for the best action film, best stunts, best original song and the Honorary Spotlight Award at the ceremony.

In the award function arranged by the Hollywood Critics Association, hosted at the Beverly Wilshire in Los Angeles on February 24, the Oscar-nominated song from the movie, Naatu Naatu, won the trophy for the best original song.

After receiving the award for the best stunts, Rajamouli complimented the movie’s stunt team and said, “In the innumerable action shots in the whole film, there were hardly 2-3 shots where we used body doubles. The actors performed every stunt. They are wonderful guys. It is the combined effort of the whole team. I thank my whole team for this. We have put in 320 days of hard work to make this film, most of which were taken by the stunts”.

“Hope we have these wings to fly further. Lastly my country itself, a land of wonderful stories, Bharat. Mera Bharat mahaan, Jai Hind”, he said towards the end of the speech representing the whole country.

The crew of the movie will leave Los Angeles only after attending the Oscars, for which their song has been put forward under the category of ‘Original Song’. The Academy Awards will be held on March 12 at the Dolby Theatre in California.

RRR is a Telugu period drama directed by SS Rajamouli. The movie told an imaginary story about the lives of Telugu freedom fighters Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem. Actors Ram Charan and Jr. NTR played the characters of the protagonists. The big-budget movie also starred Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgan and Shriya Saran. After its release on March 24, 2002, the 550-crore budget cinema successfully got a collection of above 1,200 crores from an international audience.

Golden Globe for best song

Naatu Naatu track composed by MM Keeravani and sung by Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song. The song being a dance number, gained immense popularity and acceptance from the audience. It featured actors Ram Charan and Jr. NTR. The track got nominated against Taylor Swift, Guillermo del Toro, Lady Gaga and Rihanna.
