In 2019, Naba Krishna Das quit Congress to join BJD. He was shot fatally on 29th January, 2023 by his former Personal Security Officer (PSO) in his constituency, Jharsuguda. He is counted among the most respectable as well as the wealthiest ministers in Odisha State.
Popularly known as ‘Industrial Belt of Odisha’, Naba Kishore Das is the richest minister of BJD and has seen a meteoric political rise. Das was an influential leader who began his career as the leader of the Student federation of India (SFI), however he later joined Congress.
Das, a law graduate had many flourishing businesses like mining and transportation. Earlier in 2021, in his annual property declaration, Das held immovable and movable assets worth Rs. 34 crore. He had 145 cars,
