Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces

On Thursday 10 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces in the west Bank.  The Israeli military described it as a counterterrorism operation. 

A raid in the crowded refugee camp in the northern city of Jenin is considered the bloodiest day in the west bank where gunshots rang through the streets and smoke billowed from burning barricades. 

According to Palestinian health officials, 20 people were wounded before Israeli troops withdraw-morning. 

High death count 

The United Nations has never logged such a high death account in a single operation in the west bank. It was highest record since the 2005

The Palestinian health ministry said a tenth Palestinian was subsequently shot dead by Israeli forces in Al-Ram

According to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa, a man was shot after altercations that broke out during a demonstration against the Jenin massacre.

The USA is criticising the decision of the Palestinian Authority which announced its halting security coordination with Israel in response to the violence. 

 A terror attack in Israel? 

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said targeted Islamic jihad militants were planning to conduct a terror attack in Israel. 

Israeli forces shot two more Palestinians who have been “fleeing the scene,” according to an army statement, another three Palestinians were shot during a battle. The army reported that additional Palestinians were injured after firing on Israeli troops, and a sixth suspect was also shot by Israeli police inside a structure.

The pediatric ward was in a “state of panic,” according to Wisam Bakr, director of the Jenin Government Hospital, and some children were suffering from tear gas inhalation.

“The activity was not far from the hospital, some tear gas probably entered through an open window,” the Israeli military told AFP.

Massacre in Israel 

According to witnesses and local security sources. Shortly after midnight (2200 GMT), two rockets were fired from Gaza StripTowards Israeli territory,

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Israel and the Palestinian territories next week, where he will advocate for an “end to the cycle of bloodshed,” Washington stated earlier on Thursday.

Jordan, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia—allies of the US in the region—strongly denounced the bloody Israeli incursion.

At least 200 Palestinians and 26 Israelis were killed in Israel and the Palestinian territories in 2022, with the majority of deaths taking place in the West Bank, according to an AFP count from reliable sources. the 

Continued cycle of violence 

Large crowds attended funerals in Jenin after the Palestinian presidency declared three days of mourning. The operation on Thursday was allegedly carried out “under international pressure.”

According to Nabil Abu Rudeinah, a spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas, “this is what motivates the occupation authority to carry out crimes against our people in the full face of the world.”
