The advent of Electric Vehicles

Electric Vehicles

The history of electric scooter and cars are from 19th century itself. But they were not successful because of high cost and low speed. Also they could not be used for long distances.  Another factor is that electric vehicles have to be perfected. Hence fuel driven vehicles ruled the roost.

So let’s examine how the transition from liquid fuel to electric driven vehicles takes place.

Petrol and Diesil driven scooters/cars have considerable disadvantages in today’s world. They contribute lot of pollution causing havoc to the climate. Because of pollution man is contracting many diseases. The flora and fauna, the balance in the nature is very much disturbed by the exhaust of noxious fumes of the car/scooter. This is affecting Global-warming. In fact many disadvantages lurk in these vehicles. As long as rampant pollution is not taken care of catastrophe will be looming large on mankind.

So, electric vehicles are becoming popular.

They have no pollution, no need to change the gears, easy maneuverability and hence a boon to urban populace. They were also quiet and hence peaceful driving. The market for electric cars is growing and in Norway the sales of electric cars overwhelmed regular cars. Many countries are gunning for zero emission cars like European countries which plan to be non-fossil fuel by 2030. This will lead to largest protection from green house emissions.

Fully electric cars: These vehicles are popular as it is suitable for short range as well as long range distances. For short range like home to office this not a problem. We can recharge the battery at home. For long distance recharge of the battery is required.

The speed and range of the electric vehicles depend on the battery and needless to say research is going on technical and environmental issues of battery. As long as battery functionality is improved, the car’s viability is increased. The bottom line is electric vehicles today have far improved than 10 years before. And as research progresses it will be in great demand.
