Why BCCI is still backing Ishan Kishan

No one has understood the politics of the BCCI because Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were dropped from the team because the BCCI wanted a team with youth.  This thing can be understood to some extent, but even after Ishaan Kishan’s poor performance in T20s, he is getting a place in the team again and again and batsmen capable of him are either sitting on the bench or out of the team.  We are talking about sitting on the bench, Prithvi Shaw, who is in excellent form since Ranji Trophy and Rituraj Gaikwad is not in the team, who has scored runs in 2 consecutive IPL seasons, but still he did not make his place in the Indian team.

Although Ishan Kishan is a good player, has done exceptionally well in IPL and became the fastest double century player in ODI cricket, but amidst all this, his performance in T20 Internationals has been consistently poor.

Some Last T20I innings of Ishan Kishan

1 run

4 runs

19 runs on 32 balls

1 run

2 runs

37 runs

Overall, Ishaan Kishan has scored 64 runs in 6 innings and while scoring these runs, the strike rate was less than 100, this is a very poor record for an international player.

In such a situation, Ishaan Kishan deserves to be out of the team because this performance is very bad and now it cannot be said that Ishaan Kishan did not get enough opportunities because the record we have shown you is only for the last six innings.  His performance has not been good in the past as well.

Ishaan Kishan has played 27 T20I matches so far, scoring only 653 runs in 27 innings with an average of 25 and a strike rate of 120.

Conclusion

BCCI will have to leave its politics and stop relying too much on one player only then a good team can be formed.

27 matches are too many to test any player and to find out the talent inside him. I am not saying that Ishaan Kishan is a bad player.  I am not saying that Ishaan Kishan does not have talent.  But still he has to prove himself on the international stage.  Otherwise he will have to go out of the team because the whole media industry and everyone is now understanding that Ishaan Kishan is not performing so well in T20.  Still he is getting a place in the team while Prithvi Shaw is a deserving candidate.  They are being made to sit outside.
