In the 3rd test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). India lost to Australia by 9 wickets and the match ended in the first session of 3rd day. It is not a good sight for the future of test cricket. All three matches of the series, that have been played until now, ended on 3rd day. There has been a lot of discussion around the test match pitches of India. And test matches getting ended on 3rd day will produce more of it.
Overview of the test of Ind vs Aus series
In the first inning of 3rd test, India got all out on 109 in just 33.2 over. An inning of the one-day match is 50 over, and a T20 match is of 40 over (20 over each side). On the first day of the 3rd test, at the end of the first session, India was 84/7 in 26 over. The highest scorer in the first inning for India was Virat Kohli, who scored 22 runs. But where did India go wrong? Or is it because of the pitch?
In the first inning, India gets bowled out at 109, and in the second inning, they get bowled out at 163. On the same pitch when Australia came to bat, they scored 197 runs in the first inning and 78/1 second inning. In the second inning of India, Cheteshwar Pujara played a fighting inning and scored 59 runs, and with the help of that India managed to push the game on the third day. Otherwise, the game would have ended on the 2nd day. Australia just take 19 over to win the match on 3rd day.
This year India will host the ODI world cup, and this kind of pitch will decrease the reputation of BCCI in international cricket. Nathan gets 8 wickets in the 2nd inning. Will the same wicket be produced in the upcoming ODI world cup, or can we expect that we will get to see some good cricket, where bowlers or batsmen will not get so much advantage from the pitch?
