ERODE BY-ELECTION:
EVKS Elangovan won the by-election with the support of the DMK, the ruling party in Tamil Nadu. Elangovan says that the victory is only possible with the help of DMK leader MK Stalin, who is the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Elangovan got 1,09,906 votes in the Erode by-election, and AIADMK’s candidate KS. Thennarasu got 43,819 votes in the by-poll. Before the Erode election result, Naam thamizhar’s candidate Menaka Navaneethan had huge expectations from the Tamil people, who thought they’d get 7% to 9.5%, but the reality is she will get 5% of the vote in the Erode by-election.
In this poll there we have 77 candidates participated including the Elangovan Congress Party, KS.Thennarsu AIADMK, Menaka Navaneethan NTK,etc.
DMK and Congress History:
Alliance :
The DMK and Congress alliance began in 2004. Because of some troubles, DMK decided to discontinue its alliance with Congress. At that time, Muthuvel Karunanidhi was the head of the DMK party.
The huge members of the DMK party are getting peeve against the Congress because M.K. Kaanimozhi got prison under the control of the CBI. In this case, DMK members believe that Congress will not help them recover Kanimozhi from the problem.
In the year 2021, under the leadership of M.K. Stalin, DMK declared that the party was going into an alliance with Congress.
Now, EVKS Elangovan got the victory in the Erode by-election with the help of the DMK party in Tamilnadu.
Behind the scene :
Before the 2021 election, the AIADMK was the ruling party in Tamil Nadu. After a decade, the DMK won the 2021 elections in Tamilnadu along with the alliance of Congress. The main reason for the fallout of the AIADMK is its alliance with the BJP. The alliance is not from the heart because the BJP forces the AIADMK to form an alliance with them.
Now, AIADMK’s leader EPS was not interested in that alliance, but the compulsion of the union party may lead him to comply.
