Is it the comeback of Congress in national politics?

“I hope and pray that the mission you are fighting for gets success. I bless you for your long life.” The chief priest of Ram Janmabhoomi temple, Acharya Satyendra said that in a letter written to Rahul Gandhi of congress on 2nd January 2023, praying for his success in the yatra.

This letter was made into headlines as many people are concerned about what the congress party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra was achieving. There were many important points raised by Rahul Gandhi during that yatra that needs to be discussed. Like unemployment, biased media, crashing economy, and much more. But also before starting the yatra, Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party said it was a nonpolitical movement. This didn’t seem like true, as Rahul Gandhi was seen constantly targeting RSS and BJP throughout the yatra.

Did Bharat Jodo Yatra manage to create an impact?

There is no doubt in it that it gets an amazing response in India. Not just in Congress-ruled states but also in BJP-ruled states. But can they convert it into votes in the upcoming election? It did manage to create a positive image of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party at some level. But in politics, everything is about votes, if you can’t convert the crowd into votes it all goes in vain.

“These channels also engage in spreading hatred, they speak of Hindu-Muslim 24*7” “They (people) told us that the government has been systematically spreading division – between Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs, between farmers and non-farmers, and between people of different castes” “The RSS has dominated institutions. The RSS and BJP want everybody to worship them forcibly.” “Nafrat ke bazaar me mohabbat ki dukaan khol raha hoon (I’m opening a counter to disseminate love in the market of hatred)”

These are some important statements to understand how he has targeted BJP and RSS in the last 146 days. He alleged BJP and RSS are spreading hatred, dividing people, and dominating government institutions. Which indeed put BJP in defending positions.

In the last 8 years, it was one of the rare cases where Congress managed to put the BJP in an uncomfortable and defending position. Also, this yatra made the whole party come together which was scattered, hopeless, and without any leader for the past 8 years.

These last 146 days did create an image of a leader for Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party and they were seen doing what they should as the opposition. But still, after that successful yatra of 146 days, which gets a tremendous response all over India, political analysts are in doubt whether or not the Congress party will be successful in getting votes in the upcoming election.
